And the garden creators are...

This year’s show features nine stunning showcase gardens. Read more about these beautiful creations.

The Family Backyard by Cadwell Landscaping, LLC
This family-friendly and dog-friendly design is the perfect urban backyard. It is low-maintenance and the privacy will be welcome during gatherings with family and friends. Enjoy memorable moments around the fire pit and the ambience of the gentle water feature. Maximize your family time in The Family Backyard.

Paved Paradise by Cornerstone Outdoor Life, LLC & Creative Garden Spaces
Here in the Pacific Northwest it rains—a lot—so it may not seem like outdoor living is even a possibility. We have created a space that de-bunks that myth. With careful planning and using the space wisely, we have a covered living area complete with a modern fireplace for warmth, a decorative wall for privacy from close neighbors in an urban setting. Leading to this space is a beautiful garden gate, unique pathways and a variety of plants to soften the paved areas. Hidden from view is a dining area enclosed with plant materials and soft lighting. Relax and enjoy this private paradise.

Altisima by Grasstains
Step out of the forest and into your own sanctuary. Wipe the morning mist off of your boots and step into your own world: Altisima. Set aside the daily toil and gather fire or bar side and be together, outside with the people that really matter no matter the weather. A space for family and friends provides you with the perfect get away that’s steps away from your back door and puts you into a place where it’s ok to let go and enjoy as you float away. Altisima

Contemplation by JP Stone Contractors, Inc. and L. Meyer Designs
Outdoor spaces that will allow a person to reflect, to cleanse or to just sit quietly are very important in today’s world. Allowing your mind to regenerate and maintain a clear outlook in a beautiful setting with calming factors may just be the thing everyone is searching for. Color, texture, movement are just a few of the items that help with the making of an inspiring landscape. We have created a garden space that can help calm the outer chaos down to a mere hum rather than a rumble, so sit back, relax, take in the view and contemplate.

Your Pacific Northwest Extension by Northwest Outdoor Living and Landscapes
This garden is intended to inspire people to take advantage of the beautiful Northwest splendor by creating spaces that will ultimately extend the outdoor season. The outdoor cover attached to the home allows you to enjoy additional outdoors experiences on those occasional damp nights in the Pacific Northwest. Begin your evening by showing off your “cooking prowess” utilizing the built-in BBQ while serving up your favorite beverages to your guests. Afterwards, enjoy the celestial skies, share stories and songs, and roasting marshmallows with your younger guests on your raised patio area while staying comfortable around a cozy fire pit. The most difficult part of all will come next, putting an end to a tremendous outdoor event ….or you could just add more wood to the fire and stay awhile longer. We hope our garden provides inspiration on how to enjoy more of your time in the NW outdoors.

Romancing the Urban Horticulture by OSU
This garden examines the urban landscape perspective from several vantages - food, fuel, fiber and medicine production. All are all meaningful expressions of sustainable garden approaches. Romance, memory, imagination and just plain make-believe are becoming an integral part of the modern diminutive garden. With more time spent on technology, our interpretation of exterior landscapes has become more graphic, linear and abstract. Can we conjure up the mood of a distant mountain vista, farm space or waterfall? Absolutely. They are all vital to modern life and can be achieved in the modern urban landscape.

Northwest Living by The Wall
This garden creates the perfect setting for outdoor living that fits our northwest lifestyle and feels like it was carved out of nature itself. Locally sourced basalt stone forms the fire pit and the four impressive columns. The fire pit’s custom-poured concrete cap creates a focal point, while the natural cedar patio cover allows the area to be enjoyed in all four of the seasons. Nestled into the landscape surrounded by native plants and trees are three water features creating the tranquil look and sound of a mountain stream as if you found yourself high up in a Cascade forest. Locally-sourced trees and colorful flowers burst to soften and compliment the stonework and structures. Concrete pavers with a sand finish form the patio giving a warm and solid feel. The retaining support walls for the garden boasts a decorative ashlar pattern concrete block using three different block sizes. Enjoy this display of creative design, skilled craftsmanship and quality materials. Walk through and enjoy our garden and you just may be inspired to create your own personal outdoor space.

A Room in the Garden by Treeline Designz
A Room in the Garden is a contemporary style outdoor room garden where as soon as you enter, your mind and body will be lost in the fragrance and meditation and evoke spiritual pleasures. Our contemporary garden forms a significant part of our daily life, defining a gamut of unusual outdoor spaces. No matter what size these enclosed gardens present, we utilize a multitude of imaginative approaches to convey individuality in a courtyard design. Intimate ambience forms a key element in ensuring continual use, whether chilling on a lounger, reading, or pottering around. Oregon’s unique microclimate enables broad flora diversity, where we tailor varied foliage palettes and textures to distinguish a unique style of outdoor living. The courtyard garden creates a sense of privacy and enclosure, and garden elements such as handmade sculpture by a well-known sculptor, locally grown varietals, reflecting pond and art divert attention from everyday stresses. This urban sanctuary encourages an inward journey of meditation and contemplation. Natural materials and hand-crafted art meld the energies of the earth and the spirits of the artists into a tranquil, healing setting-- A unique style of outdoor living.

The showcase gardens will be score by an acclaimed group of judges and awards will be handed out on the main stage on Thursday, February 20 at noon. Judges for this year’s show are:

Meet remodeling professionals in person

Spring is the perfect time to launch your remodeling project. While it’s a huge decision to invest the time, finances – and sometimes your sanity – to embark on the emotional rollercoaster of ripping apart your home, the long-term benefits of remodeling your current space far outweigh the hassle – and choosing the right remodeler matters. You can meet remodelers face-to-face on neutral ground and engage with them to find the perfect fit to make your vision a reality.

There’s more!

Portland Parent Magazine is back in the Kids Zone on Saturday and Sunday with activities for aspiring gardeners and homeowners. Beer, wine and spirits purveyors will be onsite sampling. Local artisans will be selling their handmade goods. And many more exhibitors and vendors – more than 300 in total – will be at the show to meet all of your home and garden needs

Thank for you a wonderful Fall Home & Garden Show

Thank you to everyone who exhibited and attended the Portland Fall Home & Garden Show! We hope you enjoyed the re-imagined show with new and exciting local exhibitors as well as our longtime exhibiting partners. Please save the date for the spring show - February 20 to 23, 2020. See you there!

Exciting news RE: Oregon Association of Nurseries
