Showcase Garden Installations

THE CITY OF GARDENS

Inspired by Portland, the City of Gardens, local floral designers and landscape experts transform the Expo Center with lush foliage, vibrant flowers, grand trees, and inspired design. Some of the region’s most iconic garden and landscape visionaries bring this indoor landscape to life, creating an immersive “City of Gardens” experience.

These stunning displays invite guests to explore, spark creativity, and reconnect with nature. This year’s show features five breathtaking installations created by local garden innovators.

The House of Flowers

The Pacific Northwest Florist Association presents The House of Flowers, with an underlying theme of reimagine, repurpose, and reuse. Imagine the garden taking over and breathing new life into areas of the home. A creative interpretation and a bit of whimsy bring this garden to life. Each floral installation this year carries on the theme of repurposing something from the home or garden in examples of floral artistry. The Pacific Northwest Florist Association created the House of Flowers with great thanks to member volunteers and sponsors, Mayesh Portland, Frank Adams, and the Portland Flower Market.

MŌDÜRNE FUNKTIONAL DESIGN

Designing Happiness

In Loving memory of William Orrin Leigh

What the world needs now is love, sweet love. We need happiness. Our garden creatives have accomplished just that. Our “Designing Happiness” concept, representing this year’s City of Gardens, shares the urban woodland, the residential sanctuary, and the lush and vibrant city. Jamie Buckiewicz and this year's creative collective have had the opportunity to come together and weave all three into “one” by using trees, plants, stone, and water as the PNW thread. The artful details and accents add magic and make us smile. This design is a delicious combination of space, composition, texture, and color. Successful design should evoke emotion. The most interesting design can promote conversation... Discussion. Fabulous design is thoughtful and can provide something we may not have thought of or felt. In this new year of 2026, it is “Happiness”.

Food Forest Garden in the City

Take a wander in the garden, and you'll see possibilities for food, shelter, and craft. A variety of textures, colors, and scents fill your senses. There is a place to grow food using low water inputs. Wander in the meadow to gather leaves for tea. Enjoy the pond that offers water to all and provides materials for weaving. The forest creates habitat (shade and shelter), as well as flowers, berries, and foraging opportunities for those in the know! Incorporating native bee habitat increases pollination, leading to higher fruit yields. Since this is a newly 'planted' Food Forest, you'll need to use your imagination to envision what the possibilities will be with the abundant flowers that turn into fruits for summer harvest and the peace and tranquility of knowing that you have a sanctuary for all to thrive and grow.

Renewing Hope

Step into the garden, where the air whispers of winter’s retreat, and imagine... Somewhere nearby, a trowel rests against stone, and gloves lie abandoned on the bench. The gardener has stepped away from their work for just a moment simply to pause and admire what patience and promise has created. Beyond, the city is humming but within this garden, there is only serenity. A sea of daffodils lift their golden faces as bright declarations that even after the longest season of stillness, beauty and life stir again and we are reminded that renewal and hope always return.
